What sets this new FX series apart is the fact that it will take place on earth. Despite the generally lukewarm reviews of Scott's Alien prequels, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, fans remain eager for new content in the Alien universe. Ridley Scott's involvement is also a good sign that FX's Alien is in good hands. This bodes well for FX's Alien TV series, as Hawley has proven he is adept in taking established storylines in a new direction. He's also worked on Legion, a show set in the X-Men Universe. Hawley is known for creating the Fargo series (also on FX) based on the Coen Brothers movie of the same name. While few plot details are available as yet, the show is scheduled for a 2021 release and is said to be set on earth, which is a departure for the series. The new Alien series will be helmed by critically acclaimed producer, writer, and director Noah Hawley, and Ridley Scott himself is attached to the project as well. An AlienTV show is in the works for FX and it's the perfect opportunity for a proper origin story.
